Nothing is agreed, till all is agreed. The precise form of Brexit remains unclear. A good reason to investigate the implications of various scenarios. In this talk Laura van Geest will analyze the various channels through which Brexit will affect the economy (trade, migration) and present some estimates of the effects under different scenarios.
Laura van Geest graduated in General Economics (1989) and Public Administration (1992) from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She first worked as a policy advisor at the Ministry of Finance. In 1995 she moved to Washington DC to work as an advisor to the Dutch executive director at the IMF.
In 1998, she returned to the Ministry of Finance, this time to work on domestic economic issues, first as unit head and later as deputy director and director of the General Financial and Economic Policy department. She became Treasurer General in 2006, dealing with issues as government debt, financial markets, public-private partnerships, state-owned enterprise, foreign financial relations and domestic economic policy. She took up the position of director-general for the Budget in 2008. She became Director of the CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis in August 2013.
